So I’m gonna rant.

It’s about my YouTube channel, boring, right?

Okay so Jonathan and I started making video game videos or machinimas about 3 years ago and eventually we decided to make a big channel for them all.

As the years have gone by Jonathan has stopped helping, and now Reed occasionally helps and so does my brother.

But we’ve been slowing down- which is too bad, because we have about 350 subscribers and people like our stuff.

This week is YouTube comedy week. So I used this as an advantage to motivate myself to make videos again.

I made a channel update with Reed and we talked about how every day of this week- we will post a YouTube video revolving around comedy.

Well- for Monday we were going to do a minecraft build on something that people asked for in the comments.

They asked for a halo 3 map remake in minecraft. It was going to be a pain but we said we’d do it.

Reed has been smothered by Marisa lately, and it’s a pain in the ass when she comes over.

Because when she comes over- she doesn’t interact. She sits there and sighs about not wanting to be there and she just plays her DS and distracts Reed.

So Reed doesn’t act the way he does when we are together.

So he said she wouldn’t come over after school and that he and I would make this map remake.

Well she came over. And she just sat there and played her DS.

So my blue snowball mic picks up really quiet sounds and so the whole time you could hear her game in the background.

And when Reed and I were building- I was recording the voice. But since Marisa was over, he wouldn’t say or do much.

And then he starts to complain too.
“Ugh… This is so boring”
“Oh my god..”

And he just sighs and groans and makes it abundantly clear that he didn’t want to be there.

And I told him he didn’t have to. But he stayed anyway.

So here’s what really ticked my clock

We were about 1/5th of the way done and he starts talking and ill jot down the key things he said.

“So why are we doing this?”

“Your channel is called HaloBoxStudios, should you be making halo videos?”

“I know you do halo machinimas, but why are we doing this? It has nothing to do with your channel, it’s stupid”

“You don’t even have any viewers anyway. I mean, I’ve looked at some videos and I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who watches your videos”

“Why don’t you just change your name? Make a new channel?”

“I’m just saying man, your channel isn’t doing good. You should just end it now.”

These things realllly upset me.
He basically sat there and criticized something that I’ve been working on for 3 years of my life. He basically told me that I’ve wasted a large amount of those 3 years.

What the fuck is his problem. I mean Jesus Christ.

I’ve worked hard to get the subscribers that I have. And whether I have a lot of fun making these videos or not, it’s still nice to see that people give the videos likes and positive comments.

And what the fuck does he mean when he says that he is probably the only one who watches our videos.

The Lost Battle machinima has 80,000+ views.

Halo 4 mini-clips has over 15,000

And other videos have around 700

I work hard on these. And people like them and send me messages asking to help them.

A machinima channel mentioned us in his video without us even asking to. Twice! And he talked about how we were a very talented group

And I’ve gotten accepted to do voicing for rolls of characters in other machinimas.

I understand that our channel is called HaloBoxStudios. And I understand that all of our videos aren’t about Halo based things. But what, am I supposed to change the name that people have grown accustomed to for nearly 3 years?

We just recently decided to start doing things other than halo. And those videos still get good reviews.

Halo is our main thing, but I don’t want to be anchored down to that and that only.

I don’t know why is pissed me off so much. If I knew he was wrong.. Maybe it’s just because he’s my best friend. And I didn’t expect him to trash my work like that.

I don’t know if it was because Marisa was there or not. But after all of that it was a long and silent hour.

He finally decided to leave with her and I just sorta half-assed said goodbye. I’m still sorta pissed.

And so he left and I had to pump something out by the end of the day.

Maria came over for a while and cuddling with her made me feel a lot better- but still, it just sucks.

So it was late and Jaren said he’d help with a video.

It turned out really good actually. And when I woke up this morning it already had good reviews and people were messaging me saying the loved it.

Making people happy like that- it feels good.

But I’ve gotta do something else now for today. We’ve got an idea but not a lot of voices. I could ask some people on the YouTubes to help out, but I just wonder if they’d have enough time to send in their lines by today.
